Venchurs Vehicle Systems now claims the lowest price point in the industry for compressed natural gas conversions of Ford pickups, trumpeting $8,350 for Ford F-250 and -350 pickups, with 6.2-liter engines, dedicated-CNG or CNG-gasoline bi-fuel.

Complete Coach Works Is Repowering 47 Refuse Trucks

Southern California’s Complete Coach Works is converting 47 refuse trucks to CNG for San Jose-based Garden City Sanitation. The repower job includes new 8.9-liter ISL G engines from Cummins Westport and a custom fuel tank system that will provide 75 DGE – diesel gallon equivalents.

Clean Energy Fuels said late Tuesday that it’s created a Facilities Modification Services business unit to support – and build – maintenance facilities servicing natural gas fleets. Clean Energy’s new FMS “will offer a range of solutions ranging from basic consulting and design, to turn-key modification projects,” the company says.

Freightliner Trucks to Serve Owens Corning in Georgia

Pennsylvania-based Modern Transportation reports the deployment on April 18 of the first production trucks to be powered by the new 11.9-liter, dedicated-natural gas, spark-ignition ISX12 G engine by Cummins Westport. The new Freightliner Cascadia day cab vehicles will supply an Owens Corning roofing plant in Savannah with materials from Sanford, N.C.

BAE’s First HybriDrive Series Electric Placement with Nova Bus

BAE Systems will supply its second-generation HybriDrive Series-E Propulsion drivelines for 475 low-floor buses by Volvo-Nova Bus for Canada’s ATUQ, the Association du transport urbain du Quebec consortium of nine area transit agencies. The order includes an option for approximately 1,200 additional vehicles.

‘Initial’ $18 Million for Four Fueling Stations by End of 2014

UPS says it expects to have the most extensive private liquefied natural gas fleet in the U.S. by end of 2014. The package delivery/logistics powerhouse has confirmed plans to purchase approximately 700 additional LNG vehicles and to invest $18 million to build fueling stations in Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis, Tenn., and in Dallas, Texas.

Retailer Is Deploying 35 Hardstaff-Converted Mercedes Trucks

Tesco, Britain’s largest retailer, is deploying 35 Mercedes trucks to be fueled with Gasrec Bio-LNG from a new station at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal in central England, Gasrec reports. The trucks have dual fuel systems from Hardstaff.
