LNG Hauler’s Fleet Is Now Better than 20% LNG-Fueled

GDF Suez Gas NA has begun supplying LNG to Transgas to fuel its new LNG-hauling tractors. “Transgas is the largest liquefied natural gas trucking company in the Northeast,” Suez says, and “is using LNG to fuel ten new tanker-truck tractors, which are also transporting LNG primarily to gas utilities throughout New England and to commercial-industrial facilities.”

Pilot Program Alone Has Already Saved $10,000 in Fuel Costs

The Lafayette, Ind.-based Tippecanoe School Corp has saved more than $10,000 on just five propane autogas school buses, the Propane Education & Research Council reports, noting that TSC serves 19 schools covering 465 square miles and owns 160 buses transporting some 12,000 students daily, accumulating a million miles of travel per school year.

The electric vehicle battery swap advocate Better Place, which closed its San Francisco office operation earlier this year, said over the U.S. holiday weekend that it is  bailing out of its targeted markets of Israel and Denmark too, filing a motion in Tel Aviv “to ask for the dissolution of the company and the appointment of a temporary liquidator.”

  • Professional Development – Motivating Individuals and Groups, Communicating Effectively and Making Ethical Decisions;
  • Asset Management – Understanding How Fleet Vehicles are Priced, Selected, Utilized and Remarketed;
  • Maintenance Management – Determining Maintenance Programs and Staffing Levels and Understanding Basic Vehicle Components;
  • Vehicle Fuel Management – Understanding Fuel Options and the Systems to Deliver Them;
  • Fleet Information Management – Understanding IT Terminology, System Implementation, Data Analysis and New Technologies for Fleets;
  • Financial Management – Making the Lease-Purchase-Reimburse Decision, Understanding LCA and Budgeting for Fleet Replacement (Part I);
  • Business Management – Writing Fleet Policies, Evaluating RFPs and Understanding Business Law; and
  • Risk Management – Using Insurance, Driver Training and Crash Analysis to Manage Fleet Risks.

Seminar registration is $770 for NAFA members or $870 for non-members. The fee includes a networking reception.
