Twenty Trucks in Four States Announced Today

Ryder System said this morning that it will supply 20 heavy duty compressed natural gas-fueled vehicles to support mail delivery operations in Lafayette, La., Jackson, Miss., La Vergne, Tenn., and Orlando. They will be added to existing diesel operations under a Ryder ChoiceLease full service agreement.


Postal Fleet Services will operate 20 CNG-fueled vehicles in four states under a full-service Ryder ‘ChoiceLease‘ agreement.

“We have the ability to respond to our customer’s additional needs in minutes,” Postal Fleet Services owner Don Dorris says in Ryder’s release.

“We can now continue to perform above their expectations, while operating more cost-efficiently and environmentally-friendly.

‘Their Help Is Critical’

“Ryder has been extremely responsive to our service needs, which makes us confident about our continued relationship as their help is critical to provide the logistics expertise, knowledge, and know-how needed to ensure that the fleet is operating at its best,” Dorris said.

“Ryder continues to see demand for natural gas vehicles from businesses that are looking through a longer term lens, and want to realize the environmental and fuel efficiency benefits,” said Ryder global fleet management solutions president Dennis Cooke.

90 Million Miles

Ryder says it has more than 90 million miles of experience with natural gas trucks, operating 22 NGV maintenance facilities, and employing more than 5,500 NGV trained maintenance and support personnel.

“With the deployment of the NGVs in Postal Fleets Services’ fleet in Tennessee and Mississippi,” the firm said today, “Ryder has now expanded its NGV offering into 16 states and two Canadian provinces.”

Ryder has CNG and LNG/liquefied natural gas customers in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin, and in Ontario and Quebec.
