Encana and Ferus LNG say they’ll build a liquefied natural gas fuel plant in Western Canada, emphasizing the E&P operations market but promising fuel for mines, trains and trucks from a 50,000-gallon-per-day facility near Grande Prairie, Alb. Encana and other E&Ps operate wells in the Deep Basin there.

California’s Napa Valley Wine Train Runs on Natural Gas

The operator of California’s famed Napa Valley Wine Train saves about $600 per day with locomotive 73, which was converted to dual fuel diesel natural gas in 2001 and switched over entirely to CNG in May 2008. A second of four locomotives, number 71, runs on a diesel-compressed natural gas mix.

$84 Million for Tacoma-Anchorage Ships Under a USCG Waiver,
TOTE Says It Will Convert Some and Replace Other MAN Engines

Proclaiming the go-ahead for an historic, $84 million project, Totem Ocean Trailer Express has secured the U.S. Coast Guard waiver it needs to convert its two 839-foot, MAN-powered Orca-class vessels to mostly LNG operation, while they remain in service. The work sets key precedents, TOTE says, for liquefied natural gas for ocean-going vessels and for the infrastructure to fuel them – which will be available for other emerging LNG users.
