ACT Expo 2013 will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities initiative, which has played a significant role in developing the market for alternative fuel and clean vehicle technologies.

“The move to Washington, D.C. for ACT Expo 2013 is in acknowledgement that the alternative fuel vehicle movement is gaining ground nationally,” said Erik Neandross, CEO of Gladstein, Neandross & Associates, the conference organizer.

Conference, Trade Show, Networking, and a Caravan

“Having the industry get in front of policy makers is going to be important to keep the momentum that’s been building over the last few years going,” Neandross said.

ACT Expo 2013 will gather thousands of alternative fuel industry leaders from across North America to showcase the economic, environmental, and energy-security benefits of alternative fuel use in transportation. The conference program, already in development by GNA, will showcase success stories from clean vehicle deployments, details on funding programs, with regulatory and policy updates.

The annual Alternative Clean Transportation Expo will take place for the first time in Washington, D.C., June 24-27, 2013.

The ACT Expo 2013 exhibit hall will feature the latest advanced vehicle technologies. There will be ample networking opportunities, and a clean vehicle ride-and drive-event.

GNA is also planning an alternative fuel vehicle caravan to the Capitol in acknowledgement of the DoE’s support and its commitment to clean, alternative fuels.

The Clean Cities program involves more than 10,400 stakeholders with participation in nearly 100 Clean Cities coalitions across the country. Clean Cities coalitions work to build partnerships with local and statewide organizations, businesses, and consumers to adopt alternative and renewable fuels to reduce petroleum use. Launched in 1993, the Clean Cities program has helped displace some three billion gallons of petroleum.

ACT Expo 2013 takes place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and Embassy Suites in Washington D.C. A call for technical papers was issued in late August (F&F, August 30), with abstracts due December 14.
