HHP: GFS for Terex 4400 Truck on LNG

An Initial Six Vehicles to Be Converted at a Mine in India

Florida’s GFS Corp says it’s designing an Evo-MT LNG-diesel dual fuel system for the “Terex unit Rig 4400 model haul truck,” and that six such vehicles will be converted for liquefied natural gas operation at a mine in India.

GFS Corp’s Evo-MT system on a Komatsu 9300 mine haul truck

“The first six trucks are scheduled to begin operating on LNG in early 2018 and the project is slated to expand in the near future to over fifty trucks,” GFS says.

The company describes its Evo-MT for mine trucks as “an integrated system consisting of onboard fuel storage and vaporization in addition to controls and safety systems that allow the truck to operate on a combination of LNG and diesel fuel, or NG+D operation.”

Enough LNG for a 12-Hour Shift

The Evo-MT 4400 system will provide 259 usable U.S. gallons of onboard LNG storage, GFS says, enough to complete a 12-hour shift.

GFS Corp currently offers retrofit systems for Caterpillar 777B, C and D, 785B, C and D, 793B, C and D trucks and 992G and K wheel loaders, as well as Komatsu 830DC, AC and 930E trucks.

Cummins QSK60

“To date,” GFS says, “the various Evo-MT Systems have successfully logged well over 400,000 hours in actual mining operations in environments with temperatures ranging from -40 degrees F to above 100 degrees F.”

According to one internet source, the Terex 4400 is powered by a Cummins QSK60 engine.
