California Nod for Engine for Big Ford E-450
And There’s a ‘One-Stop’ UPAS Upfit Program

Icom North America has secured California Air Resource Board certification of its dedicated liquid propane autogas fuel system for the Ford 6.8-liter Ford V-10 engine for E-450 vehicles.

“Owners and operators of shuttle vehicles and buses in California that utilize the Ford E450 V-10 engine will be able to significantly reduce operating costs and dramatically improve their emissions profile by converting to liquid propane autogas using Icom’s system” states a release.

And, Icom is promoting “one-stop solutions to reduce the complexity and costs associated with converting and maintaining propane autogas fleets” via a program with the United Propane Autogas Solutions Group.

The Icom-UPAS program incudes

  • installation of the Icom propane autogas system;
  • securing the supply of propane autogas fuel on attractive terms;
  • coordinating the installation of propane autogas fueling infrastructure (if needed); and
  • performing ongoing propane autogas system support and maintenance.

In addition to the recent CARB approval, Icom holds U.S. EPA certifications on over 1200 vehicle platforms. Customers include UPS, Yale University, SuperShuttle, Ace Parking, Metro Cars, the U.S. National Park Service, and the cities of Boston and Springfield, Ill. The company has more than 145 dealers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and upwards of 400 fleet service points.

NGVAmerica Names Gage New President

September 13, 2017 in NGVs, people by Rich Piellisch  |  No Comments

Daniel Gage from the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers,
Mitchell Pratt of Clean Energy Fuels Is Association Chairman

NGVAmerica has named Daniel Gage as its new president. He comes onboard mid-month, having served as senior director of communications and public affairs with the Washington, D.C.-based Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers since 2011.

Daniel Gage

“Gage takes over leadership of NGVAmerica at an important time in the organization’s 30-year history as the nation’s leading organization driving the use of natural gas as a clean, domestic, safe and abundant transportation fuel,” states a release.

“Dan’s deep experience in moving positive initiatives through a variety of channels will be critical as NGVAmerica continues to push for policies that make natural gas fuel more available to the transportation market,” association chair (and Clean Energy Fuels COO) Mitchell Pratt says in the announcement.

‘Defining Moment’

“As alternative fuels grab more and more headlines about their potential, it is imperative that our industry communicates the many ways natural gas is the superior choice for fleets that are looking to make a positive impact on the environment and to save money today and into the future,” Pratt said.

“It’s a defining moment for natural gas in transportation,” said Gage, as “natural gas remains the cleanest commercially available transportation option, costing – on average – one third less than other fuels.”

“Domestically-sourced, natural gas delivers superior performance and offers the most cost-effective NOx emissions reductions as compared to diesel or electric options.”

Mitch Pratt

Capitol Hill Experience Too

Gage holds more than 20 years of experience in government and community relations and public affairs, “building effective teams and developing comprehensive messaging campaigns,” NGVAmerica says, “to shape policy at all levels of government.”

Prior to joining the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, Gage was a senior staff member in the Washington office of the American Academy of Pediatrics and served as government relations VP for JA Green. His background includes a decade of Congressional experience.

NGVAmerica kicked off the search for new leadership at ACT Expo this past spring (F&F, May 8).
