Meeting Follows Fast on Extension of $1 Tax Credit
The National Biodiesel Board is gearing up for its tenth National Biodiesel Conference & Expo February 4-7 in Las Vegas, hot on the heels of the late New Year’s Day news from Washington that the $1 per gallon tax credit for B100 fuel would be extended through 2013 – and applied retroactively for 2012.
Already, NBB had chosen Momentum as its 2013 meeting theme.
“The conference serves as a springboard for the industry, as production and market demand tend to rise sharply soon after,” NBB president Joe Jobe says on the meeting website. “We routinely hear from exhibitors that the deals made at this event affect their balance sheets all year long.
‘A Long Year with Missed Opportunity’
“Demographics show most of our attendees are high-level decision makers in their fields,” Jobe says. “Those who reach them first will be two steps ahead of their competitors.”
The NBB annual, he says, is attended “by fuel producers, petroleum distributors, soybean growers and agricultural commodity organizations, scientists, policy makers and alternative fuel users and enthusiasts.”
And the incentive restored as part of the “fiscal cliff”-averting American Taxpayer Relief Act? “We’re pleased,” NBB says.
“It’s been a long year with a lot of missed opportunity and lost jobs in the biodiesel industry,” association federal affairs VP Anne Steckel said in a release yesterday. “But we’re pleased that Congress has finally approved an extension so that we can get production back on track.”
Byron Dorgan to Keynote
“This is not an abstract issue,” Steckel said. “In the coming months, because of this decision, we’ll begin to see real economic impacts with companies expanding production and hiring new employees.”
Also in Las Vegas, NBB will celebrate its 20th anniversary as an association. The NBB 2013 conference and trade show will take place at the Mirage Hotel. The gathering is managed by Denver’s Kinsley Meetings.
Former Senator Byron Dorgan is the keynote speaker on Wednesday, February 6. “His passion for domestically produced renewable energy is stronger than ever,” NBB says.
The California Biodiesel Alliance’s California Biodiesel & Renewable Diesel Conference will be held at the Mirage in cooperation with NBB on February 4.
