The Illinois-based Gas Technology Institute is circulating its Guidance Document for the Introduction of Landfill-Derived Renewable Gas into Natural Gas Pipelines, noting that a GTI initiative “is establishing parameters for evaluating the suitability of biomethane products – derived from dairy waste and landfills – for safe and proper introduction into existing natural gas pipelines and to assure compatibility with existing supplies.”

GTI report outlines how landfill gas may be rendered suitable for pipeline injection.

The effort is sponsored by the natural gas industry, the U.S. Department of Transportation and members of the Solid Waste Association of North America, GTI says.
