EQT Corp reports that the EQT Foundation has awarded more than $900,000 in grants to five Pittsburgh area non-profits in support of natural gas vehicles.

Pittsburgh-based EQT Corp opened this CNG fueling station in the city'€™s Strip District in July, 2011 --€“ and advises that the price is now $1.77 per GGE (gasoline gallon equivalent).

The grants have helped pay for NGVs for the Carnegie Science Center and Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, among others.

EQT has assisted area fleets in obtaining close to $10 million dollars in state and federal grants for three public access fueling stations and to offset the incremental costs of nearly 160 natural gas vehicles.

And, EQT says it’s on track to convert 23% of its vehicle fleet – more than 330 vehicles – to natural gas by the end of 2013, displacing 450,000 gallons of petroleum per year.
