Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSYS) has made another acquisition, this time from Dresser Italia, augmenting FSSI’s BRC, BRC FuelMaker, Impco Automotive, NaturalDrive, GFI and other brands with Cubogas natural gas vehicle methane compression units.
Separately, users of FuelMaker VRAs (vehicle refueling appliances) are being notified about greatly improved service and support, including the replacement of compressors and other components with newer and better ones when units are sent in for routine service, faster turn times, and extended warranties.
“The Cubogas brand adds a new line of CNG compressor and packaging products for a wide range of applications, and our BRC division will maximize the scale and efficiency of the former Dresser CNG compressor business,” FSSI CEO Mariano Costamagna said in a release.
The Cubogas line covers a wide range of CNG station needs: from 50 cubic meters per hour all the way up to 4,000 m3/hr, according to the Dresser website – approximately 30 standard cubic feet per minute to 2,350 scfm.
“We continue to build our infrastructure and natural gas compressor product lines to serve the growing demand from commercial, fleet and consumer customers,” Costamagna said.
Reassurance for FuelMaker VRA Users
The deal includes the use of the trademark Dresser for three years in connection with CNG fueling hardware, BRC Gas Equipment said in Italy, as well as a multi-year license agreement to manufacture Nuovo Pignone compressors.
FuelMaker users frustrated when the firm went out of business in Canada in April 2009 are meanwhile getting some strong assurances from the new proprietors. BRC FuelMaker will now install new compressors in units sent to Cherasco (Italy) for routine service, says Mario Pirraglia, a former top FuelMaker executive who is now sales and marketing VP with Mansfield Gas Equipment Systems, a FuelMaker distributor.
Compressor warranties are being doubled from 1,000 hours or one year to 2,000 hours and two years, (and are being extended to electronics and other non-compressor components), and the 4,000-hour VRA lifetime limit is being eliminated, Pirraglia told F&F.
“Run time is now infinite,” states Friday’s notice to customers. Mansfield notes that it’s the sole BRC FuelMaker distributor for California and Nevada.
BRC FuelMaker is pledging faster shipping, too.
