Rent-a-car giant Hertz is trumpeting its first-ever traditional airport rentals of natural gas vehicles, adding eight Honda Civic Natural Gas sedans and two GMC Yukon SUVs to its fleet at the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. Rentals are to commence in May. All will include Hertz NeverLost GPS units to help customers locate CNG fueling.
Hertz is getting factory-built Honda CNGs via Oklahoma City’s Bob Howard Honda. The Yukons will be converted by Carter Chevrolet-OEM Systems of Okarche using fuel systems from Impco Automotive and compressed natural gas cylinders from Lincoln Composites.
Hertz describes the initiative in the CNG-rich Oklahoma City area as a pilot program, noting in its release that worldwide, it has “approximately 8,500 locations in approximately 150 countries.”
