Is Adding 18,000 Square Feet and New Equipment,
Launches 4.5 GGE/Hour Micro CNG Compressor Line
Compressors is expanding its 122,000-square-foot facility at Norfolk, Va., adding 18,000 square feet of space for product fabrication, and 13,000 square feet for offices. The firm is also promoting a new Micro Series self-contained unit capable of dispensing 4.5 gasoline gallon equivalents per hour of compressed natural gas.
“This investment is testimony to Bauer’s commitment to utilize the latest in world-class, state-of-the art, high productivity manufacturing, assembly and testing facilities in support of our mission to provide our customers with the highest performing, highest quality high pressure compression systems on the market at the best value,” Bauer president Tony Bayat said in a release Tuesday.
Bauer’s assembly capabilities are being bolstered with
- a new powder coat paint line;
- a new robotic panel bender;
- new grind and weld booths; and
- an equipment testing and evaluation center for new product development and reliability testing, including environmental condition testing.
Bauer is also adding a state-of-the-art customer training and meeting facility.
“To embark on such a bold investment at a time when other companies are retreating is remarkable,” Bayat said, “creating good manufacturing jobs locally and right here.”
“This is a historic moment for Bauer,” he said.
Smaller Fleets and CNG Newcomers
The new Micro Series line is aimed at industrial and commercial applications with smaller fleets, or for companies which are starting to make the switch over to natural gas as an alternative fuel.
It includes a C120 compressor with 7.5-horsepower motor, and can dispense fuel at a rate of 4.5 GGE per hour (4.1 GDE/diesel gallon equivalents).
“It is an affordable solution for on-site refueling in areas which lack convenient, public access natural gas refueling stations,” Bauer says.
Prices start at $25,000.
