JAC Chassis to Get Q-Lite Tank Rigs Under $2.5 Million Contract
Quantum Fuel Systems (NASDAQ:QTWW) has disclosed a $2.5 million contract to supply its Q-Lite brand compressed natural gas fuel systems for vehicles by Southern California’s Greenkraft.
Quantum thus joins GM, which supplies engines for Greenkraft’s upfits of trucks from JAC, China’s Anhui Jianghuai Automobile.
Ryder System is a key Greenkraft customer (F&F, May 24 and October 23, 2012).
“Quantum’s advanced storage systems are configured to enhance the performance of these CNG medium duty trucks, which are ideal for small businesses such as food services, electric and construction contractors, pest control, plumbing and landscaping contractors,” Quantum CEO Brian Olson said in a release.
Full Factory Assembly
Quantum says that its fully integrated rail-mounted fuel storage package will be 100% assembled and pre-tested in the factory.
“The design incorporates two ultra-lightweight composite natural gas tanks per truck, with modular high-strength brackets, aesthetically pleasing covers and integrated refueling receptacle,” Quantum says, promising “dramatic weight reduction, increased fuel storage capacity, and the capability to quickly integrate.”
