New Customer Is ‘A Leading Vehicle Integrator’

Southern California’s Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies reports an $1.8 million purchase order for its Q-Lite lightweight Type IV compressed natural gas fuel cylinders “from a new customer that is a leading vehicle integrator of light duty trucks.”

“We are excited to continue to expand our customer base,” Quantum president and CEO Brian Olson said in a release. “Our lightweight, high capacity Q-Lite fuel storage systems help to strengthen the underlying economics for natural gas vehicle adoption, offering improved fuel economy and payload capacity.”

Quantum says it “offers one of the lightest natural gas fuel storage solutions in the industry, coupled with superior fuel storage capacity, enhanced safety features and the capability to be quickly integrated on to vehicles.”

The Quantum (NASDAQ:QTWW) news comes just two days after 3M said it had completed certification of its new Type IV tanks, naming no fewer than five upfitters that will use them for light duty vehicle conversions (F&F, February 12).
