Mercedes Offers ‘Only Natural Gas-Powered Vans Available in Mexico’
DHL Express México says it’s very satisfied with the performance of 15 compressed natural gas-gasoline bi-fuel Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans it deployed in Mexico City late in November.
The 15 CNG Sprinters were part of a 218-vehicle delivery by Mercedes-Benz México (181 total Sprinters, 32 Vito vans, and five sub-compact Smart cars with start-stop). The overall investment was 136 million pesos, about $10.5 million U.S.
The CNG Sprinters represent “the first natural gas-powered Sprinter fleet in the Americas,” DHL says. They have four-cylinder 1.8-liter NGT engines, and work-saving automatic transmissions.
“Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans are the only natural gas-powered vans available in Mexico, and they stand out because of their safety, efficiency and unparalleled reliability,” DHL says.
