Bi-Fuel Sedan Is to Go on Sale in Sweden in October
Westport Innovations is spreading the word that Volvo Car unveiled its new Volvo V60 Bi-Fuel sedan in conjunction with the NGV 2013 event being held this week in Gothenburg, Sweden.
“The launch of this product provides a new option for corporate and municipal fleet customers,” Westport VP Ian Scott said in a release. A Swedish alt fuel tax incentive program is expected to be extended, he said.
The new Volvo V60 bi-fuel has a combined gasoline and CNG range of 1,120 kilometers – nearly 700 miles. It is to go on sale in Sweden in October.
Sole Supplier Since 2009
“Westport and Volvo Car Group are currently in discussions to expand the Volvo V60 Bi-Fuel car into other markets,” Westport says.
Westport says it’s been the sole supplier of natural gas fuel systems to Volvo Car since 2009. It has developed and installed natural gas systems for the Volvo V70 estate car at a facility located inside Volvo’s main production center in Gothenburg.
