Atlanta EV Pioneer ‘Embraces Yet Another Alternative Fuel’
Jim Ellis Chevrolet in Atlanta is adding compressed natural gas vehicles from GM to its product line-up – and is reminding customers that it’s the leader in Chevrolet Volt sales in Georgia, and still the only dealership in Georgia offering electric vehicle support with a six-bay solar-powered charging station.
The store is talking up CNG-fueled Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pick-up trucks. “The abundance of CNG in the United States speaks for itself and could be a way for America to enhance its independence on foreign oil,” Jim Ellis GM Mark Frost says in a release.
The dealer notes that the bi-fuel Silverado/Sierra HD extended cab is equipped with a 17 GGE (gasoline gallon equivalent) CNG tank in addition to its 36-gallon gasoline tank for a combined range of more than 650 miles.
Wanted: More CNG Fueling Infrastructure
Upfitter Impco Automotive said last month that it would add crew cabs to its repertoire (F&F, June 16).
“The only thing slowing down the process is the infrastructure that will allow for easier availability of CNG for our customers,” Frost says. “We are encouraged that more and more stations are starting to offer CNG.”
