New Iowa Station Adds to Alt Fuels Network in Three States

Kwik Trip / Kwik Star, the Wisconsin-based convenience store operator that’s aggressively moved into alternative fuels, is celebrating the opening of a compressed natural gas outlet in Cedar Falls, Iowa tomorrow (August 1), bringing its three-state upper Midwest network to nearly a dozen locations.

“Kwik Trip / Kwik Star has taken on the task to expand its fuel offerings using only its own internal resources and expertise,” the company says.

The C-store operator says it’s “positioned itself to provide a better, more affordable solution to the public.” The firm pledges to continue to add to its CNG network at both existing stores and new locations.

‘Best and Most Functional’

The goal is “the best and most functional natural gas vehicle fueling infrastructure possible.”

In addition to Cedar Falls, Kwik Trip offers CNG and in some cases other alterative fuels in

  • La Crosse, WI;
  • Sturtevant, WI;
  • Rochester, MN;
  • Oshkosh, WI;
  • Minnesota City, MN;
  • Owatonna, MN;
  • Pewaukee, WI;
  • Sheboygan, WI;
  • Appleton (Grand Chute), WI; and
  • St. Michael, MN.

“Kwik Trip / Kwik Star believes in order to be successful they need to drive both natural gas vehicle adaptation and simultaneously build a functional infrastructure for their guests.”

The firm says it “will leverage its vertical integration model to help foster the growth of NGV use in its market.” The firm’s Convenience Transportation distribution unit logs some 18 million miles on an annual basis and itself has more than 30 natural gas vehicles in it fleet.
