Expected 725 Vehicles This Year, F-350s with BrandFX Bodies
Westport BAF Technologies has orders from AT&T for 700 Ford F-250 and 25 F-350 trucks to be converted to dedicated-compressed natural gas operation in Dallas. The vehicles are to be delivered at the start of January 2014.
All of the trucks will have Type I CNG tanks from Italy’s Faber and Ford’s 6.2-liter gaseous-prep engine.
The 700 F-250s will have BAF’s underbody tank design, yielding 20 gasoline gallon equivalents of CNG with no loss of carrying space in the truck bed. All will have a refueler option allowing a full truck to transfer CNG to an empty one.
Westport Bought BAF Late in June
The 25 F-350s will have bodies by BrandFX, of Dallas-neighboring Fort Worth.
Westport Innovations (Toronto:WPT and NASDAQ:WPRT) announced its $30 million acquisition of BAF from Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ:CLNE) on June 28 (F&F, June 28 & 29).
