Facility Hosted by Shell in Colorado is Gas Producer’s Eighth
Encana Natural Gas has opened its eighth compressed natural gas fueling station in North America, a public-access facility co-located at a Shell outlet on County Road in Parachute, Colo.
Natural gas is domestic, clean, and cheap, the producer says. “Encana has been realizing those benefits since 2006 and in fact, last year saved nearly $16 million by using natural gas instead of diesel and gasoline in our operations,” Encana Natural Gas VP Matt Most said in a release.
“Encana has converted nearly 57% of its drilling rig fleet and approximately 29% of its fleet vehicles to run on natural gas,” he said.
Encana LNG Too, in Alberta and Louisiana
Encana says it “wants other businesses to reap the same benefits.” It supplies CNG and liquefied natural gas to the energy exploration and production, marine, mining, rail and on-road transportation sectors. Encana owns and operates one LNG liquefaction plant and is building a second in Alberta, Canada. It operates two LNG fueling stations in Louisiana, and offers mobile LNG services and LNG regasification fueling.
With the new outlet in Parachute, Encana Natural Gas now has seven active CNG stations. The others are in Fort Lupton, Colo.; Drumheller and Strathmore, Alb.; Red River, La.; Riverton, Wyo.; and Plano, Texas.
