CNG-Fueled T800 Daycab for Chesapeake/Oilfield Trucking Solutions

Kenworth has celebrated the roll-out and customer delivery of its first full-production truck powered by the 400-horsepower version of the 11.9-liter Cummins Westport ISX12 G natural gas engine.

The first Kenworth with a 400-horsepower ISX12 G, a T800 daycab, was delivered to Oklahoma’s Oilfield Trucking Solutions at the Kenworth factory in Renton, Wash.

The first Kenworth with a 400-horsepower ISX12 G, a T800 daycab, was delivered to Chesapeake Energy’s Oilfield Trucking Solutions unit at the Kenworth factory in Renton, Wash. Chesapeake Oilfield Services CEO Jerry Winchester was at the wheel.

The T800 short hood (extended day cab) vehicle is for OTS, the Oilfield Trucking Solutions unit of Chesapeake Oilfield Services, a unit of Chesapeake Energy.

The vehicle “represents an important initial step in a cutting-edge change in how the oil and natural gas production industry fuels its field servicing trucks,” Chesapeake CEO Jerry Winchester said in a Kenworth release. “By operating this truck at Oilfield Trucking Solutions, we’re committed to being the industry’s best oilfield service provider,” he said.

The T800 short hood for OTS is to be equipped with two side-mounted Type IV CNG cylinder tanks installed by Agility Fuel Systems. Range will be 450 miles, Kenworth says.

OTS Is All-Kenworth

Oilfield Trucking Solutions operates a 100% Kenworth fleet of 260 trucks in Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, the manufacturer says, adding, “The company’s trucks traveled several million miles last year, transporting thousands of barrels of water and crude daily to help producers meet drilling, completion and production needs.”

The CNG-fueled T800 with the 400-horsepower ISX12 G is to haul crude oil in Oklahoma.

Chesapeake/OTS affiliates, Kenworth notes, include Performance Technologies, Hodges Trucking, Great Plains Oilfield Rentals, Compass Manufacturing, and Nomac Drilling. Kenworth says that the group’s trucking divisions have bought more than 400 T800 and C500 diesel trucks over the past three years.
