One for Georgia, and Four for California from Greenkraft
Otto Environmental Systems North America will deploy its first compressed natural gas truck, an Isuzu vehicle that’s been in trials in its headquarters town of Charlotte, N.C., in Augusta, Ga. Otto will deploy four more CNG trucks, from Greenkraft, at the Otto Container Management operations center in Moreno Valley, Calif. by mid-October.
It’s “the next step in progressing as a sustainable leader in our industry,” Otto service VP Kenn Budlong said in a release.
Fuel savings are estimated at about 30%, fleet service and compliance manager Phil Bader told F&F. He said he expects preventive maintenance intervals to be extended from 7,500 miles to 12,500 miles.
“Across the board it makes sense for us to grow this way,” Bader said.
The Greenkraft trucks are built on chassis from China’s JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Company) fitted with 6.0-liter GM engines with carbon composite fuel assemblies from Quantum.
