More Efficient, More Features, More Dealers: 37 States on the 15th
American Honda’s Civic Natural Gas for 2014 goes on sale February 15 in 37 states with 195 certified dealers. MSRP is $26,640, or $29,290 with navigation package. A new seven-inch touchscreen and expanded view driver’s mirror are standard.
“We launch the MY14 Civic CNG with a new APR program for customers who purchase their vehicles and a special lease rate for those that prefer to lease,” says Eric Rosenberg, assistant manager for alternative fuel vehicles.
2013’s free fuel card program “has been a hit,” Rosenberg told F&F, as 63% of customers in 2013 took advantage.
‘Rumblings in Pennsylvania’
Regionally, “Oklahoma was the second largest market for us in 2013 and we’re looking for our dealers in Oklahoma to repeat that success story,” Rosenberg adds. “Southern California continues to be the car’s number one market but we’re starting to see rumblings in Pennsylvania as well.
“Utah is a market with wonderful refueling infrastructure and should make a good run at record sales in 2014.”
The total of 195 dealers represents a gain of 80 over the past three years, he says.
Courting consumers as well as fleets, Honda has added options for leather seats, heated front seats, heated side mirrors and a six-speaker audio system.
Honda also this month launched the 2014 Civic Hybrid with an MSRP of $24,635 or $26,135 with nav. Improvements in the fuel pump and ignition coil, and tuning changes related to engine sensors and greater regenerative braking efficiency have brought combined EPA mileage to 44 miles per gallon.
The base MSRP for a 2014 gasoline Civic is $18,390.
