Program with Clean Energy Fuels for 750,000 GGEs

Westport has reinstated a free fuel program with Clean Energy Fuels, offering 1,000 gasoline gallon equivalents of compressed natural gas with every vehicle ordered with a Westport WiNG upfit, from a network of 150 Westport-authorized Ford dealerships.

Westport vehicle modification center in Dallas, formerly operated by BAF Technologies, was acquired from Clean Energy Fuels in mid-2013.

Westport is giving away up to 750,000 GGEs of CNG through Clean Energy. The free fuel credits are being offered on a “first-come-first-served” basis and can be used at any public access Clean Energy CNG fuel station in the U.S.

Eligible vehicles include dedicated or bi-fuel Ford Super Duty trucks, service bodies and chassis cabs, passenger vans, cargo vans, shuttle and cutaway chassis. All Ford vehicles with the Westport WiNG system are EPA and/or CARB certified.

“The free fuel offer gives existing fleets, and fleets considering natural gas vehicles, the chance to enjoy the technology, performance and ease of refueling NGVs,” Westport says. The promotion runs through December 31, 2014, and the fuel credits have to be used by February 11, 2019.

Jim Harger is chief marketing officer at Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ:CLNE).
