Follow-On Order via Clarke Makes for Largest APG Fleet

American Power Group said Monday that a follow-on order for 14 trucks by WheelTime dealer Clarke Power Services makes for the largest APG dual fuel fleet thus far deployed.

APG offers ‘a unique non-invasive energy enhancement system that converts existing diesel engines into more efficient and environmentally friendly engines.’

APG offers ‘a unique non-invasive energy enhancement system that converts existing diesel engines into more efficient and environmentally friendly engines.’

The order comes from an existing early adopter who had evaluated an initial unit for approximately 90 days, APG says, describing the customer as “one of the nation’s leading toll processors of rolled steel, aluminum, and copper.”

The order, for CNG-diesel dual fuel trucks, is to be filled from Clarke Power’s existing dealer inventory of APG dual fuel conversion kits.

More Orders Expected

“We are pleased to see several of our early-adopter customers complete their evaluations and take the next step and order additional systems,” Clarke Power field services manager Chad Marti says in the APG announcement. “We are convinced the power performance and economic fuel savings of the APG dual fuel system will continue to attract new customers and motivate others to move into production as well,” he said. “We are encouraged by the interest level and commitment being shown by a growing number of fleets.”

APG can do liquefied natural gas as well.

The APG system works with LNG/liquefied natural gas as well.

“Clarke Power’s customer’s early-adopter evaluation process is very typical of many prospective customers considering using natural gas in their fleets for the first time,” said APG CEO Lyle Jensen. “We expect many more early-adopter fleets will follow suit and begin to place production orders.”

“This group of fifteen trucks will be the single largest APG Dual Fuel Glider fleet on the road today,” Jensen said. “The favorable economics of a glider kit combined with lower maintenance costs and a significant net fuel savings makes for a very compelling and competitive argument to expand its use.”

A Dual Fuel Freightliner for ACT Expo

APG is bringing a CNG-fueled Freightliner Coronado with remanufactured 12.7-liter Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine to ACT Expo next week in Long Beach, Calif.

ACT Expo – North America’s largest clean vehicles event – takes place May 5-8 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. It is co-located with NGV Global 2014, the world natural gas vehicles meeting.

The Alternative Clean Technology Expo & Conference is organized by Fleets & Fuels publisher GNA – Gladstein, Neandross & Associates.

ACT Expo registrations are discounted until April 30.
