T680, T660, T800 with ISX12 G, T440 with ISL G
Kenworth Truck is bringing no fewer than four compressed natural gas-fueled Class 8 trucks to ACT Expo in Long Beach, Calif. next week. Three will have the new 11.9-liter, up-to-400-horsepower ISX12 G engine from Cummins Westport, and one will have the 8.9-liter ISL G – of which more than 20,000 have been sold.
“Leading the way,” says a pre-show release, is the new Kenworth T680. “The new natural gas-powered Kenworth T680 offers fuel-saving aerodynamics and cost-efficient natural gas to provide excellent operating cost benefits for truck operators in various applications,” Kenworth vocational marketing manager Alan Fennimore says in the announcement.
Kenworth will display a CNG-powered T680 with the ISX12 G engine in Long Beach. The truck will be available for sale later this year.
Various Vendors for Fuel Cylinder Arrays
Kenworth will also exhibit a T660 extended day cab and a short hood T800 roll on/roll off, also in a CNG configuration, and also with the ISX12 G.
A CNG-powered Kenworth T440 pickup-and-delivery vehicle with the 8.9-liter Cummins Westport ISL G rounds out the ACT Expo display.
Kenworth says it “works closely with such companies as Agility Fuel Systems, Trilogy Engineered Solutions, and McNeilus” for the CNG fueling cylinder assemblies for its natural gas trucks.
