Brazil’s MAT, Latin America’s Largest Manufacturer of CNG Tanks,
Is Tackling the U.S. Market with Type I Product for Trucks and Cars
Brazil’s MAT, which says it’s Latin America’s largest manufacturer of compressed natural gas fuel cylinders, spread the word at ACT Expo 2014 that it is now targeting the U.S. market for its Type I all-steel tanks, and expects to be present in the U.S. in earnest during the second half of this year.
“Confident in the rapid development of the American market,” says commercial manager Eddie Vasconcelos, “the company will offer cylinders manufactured with the most advanced technology and certified by NGV-2 with competitive prices, enabling the conversion of large fleets with reduced cost, as well as offering a variety of cylinders for all types of passenger cars.”
Nearly Four Million to Date
Advanced manufacturing technology, the firm says, makes for the most compact cylinders on the market, with the best size-to-capacity ratios available. MAT’s Type I CNG cylinders range from 10.5 to 14 inches in diameter, with lengths from 36 to 60 inches, and inside water volumes of from 40 to 125 liters.
“Since the company began its activities in 1940, MAT has produced nearly 4 million cylinders,” Vasconcelos told F&F.
