Nebraska-Based Freightliner Dealer to Serve as Tank Distributor

In yet another market alliance by a compressed natural gas fuel cylinder manufacturer, Hexagon Lincoln said today that Omaha-based Truck Center Companies – a 12-location Freightliner dealer – has been made a factory-authorized distributor of Hexagon’s Tuffshell brand Type IV all-composite CNG tanks.

Omaha-based Truck Center Companies, a major Freightliner dealer, has jumped into natural gas trucking 'with both feet,' says fuel solutions specialist Shain Heiss. TCC's CNG-fueled Freightliner Cascadia demo tractor is shown here.

Truck Center Companies has facilities in eight cities in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas, Hexagon Lincoln says, “and will provide tanks, components, systems and value-added services with full warranty support.”

TTC is working too with Trillium CNG and Omaha’s Metropolitan Utilities District on a new facility to include CNG fueling and full natural gas truck service capability (F&F, March 20). It will be the company’s 13th location, says fuel solutions specialist Shain Heiss.

The new Trillium CNG fueling station in Omaha is to be complemented by Nebraska’s first natural gas-compliant truck dealership and service center, a 15,000-square-foot facility by Truck Center Companies. TCC is a Freightliner dealer with 12 locations in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. The firm recently added an alternative fuels division, TCC Fuel Solutions.

Facility Upgrades Planned

“We’ve got about 30 technicians trained on CNG,” he told F&F, and plans are in place to upfit the company’s other locations for CNG truck work.

“This relationship enables Hexagon Lincoln to satisfy a larger number of potential customers within the heavy duty market,” Hexagon Lincoln business development manager Marc Meyer said in a release. “Having manufacturing and distribution within such close proximity will improve delivery and reduce costs,” he said.

He and Hexagon Lincoln VP Chet Dawes explain that the distributor arrangement will allow Truck Center Companies to fulfill the orders of smaller fleet operators who might otherwise not meet the busy tank manufacturer’s order minimums.
