Type III Pressure Vessels for Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain
Utah’s Optimum Composite Technologies says it’s now the exclusive compressed natural gas fuel tank supplier for AGA Systems, also of Utah. AGA offers U.S. EPA-certified CNG-gasoline bi-fuel systems for the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain compact SUVs.
Optimum offers 16-by-35-inch (6.8 gasoline gallon equivalents) and 19-by-34 (8.3 GGE) Type III CNG tanks “that both fit nicely in the cargo area of these vehicles,” Optimum customer relations manager Chad Morgan says in a release.
“The Terrain and Equinox are among the best compact SUV offerings on the road today, and when equipped with CNG, provide the opportunity to see real savings with a smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle,” AGA Systems VP Bryan Wilcox says in the Optimum announcement.
500-Plus Next Year
“We anticipate 500-plus units being converted in the next year,” he said.
AGA offers the vehicles in 55-cubic-foot cargo or five-passenger cargo configurations.
Optimum promotes both Type III (carbon fiber on aluminum) and Type IV (carbon fiber on a polymer liner) CNG tanks.
