Agency Expects to Deploy 50 Next Year and 100 in 2016
“We’re in the process,” says Doug Peck, maintenance support director with Houston Metro, explaining that the agency has ordered 50 CNG-fueled New Flyer buses for 2015 delivery beginning this coming spring – and 100 for 2016. updated October 17
The agency currently operates 438 hybrid electric buses and coaches, with both Allison and BAE Systems drives, he told F&F, out of an overall fleet of approximately 1,240.
The CNG buses are part of a larger order including diesels from NABI/North American Bus Industries – now part of New Flyer – reported last year (F&F, September 24, 2013)
Those Greenlink CNG buses visitors see around Houston’s downtown hotels and the convention center? There are six, Peck says, operated by Houston Metro on behalf of a downtown business association.
