Separately, Westport & Collins to Host CNG School Bus Webinar
Westport Innovations reports U.S. EPA certification of its dedicated-compressed natural gas WiNG Power System brand upfit of the 2015 Ford Transit Van. The vehicle has a 3.7-liter gaseous-prep engine.
Westport cites “breakout” sales numbers from Ford: in December 2014, the Transit Van had its best monthly performance since being introduced in 2014, with 10,030 units sold.
Ford promotes the Transit Van for both cargo and passenger shuttle use.
Westport is a Ford QVM – Qualified Vehicle Modifier – so the existing Ford warranty on the CNG Transit remains in place, “and is matched by the Westport warranty for all like components.”
School Bus Webinar in Three Weeks
Westport notes that it conducts the same safety testing required for all Ford original equipment manufacturer products.
California Air Resources Board certification if the 2015 Transit Connect is expected soon.
Separately, Westport and Collins Bus will host a free webinar on January 29 covering the new Type A school bus with the Westport WiNG CNG system on a 6.8-liter Ford engine and E-450 chassis (F&F, May 17, 2014). Westport GM Paul Shaffer and Matt Scheuler of Collins Bus are the scheduled speakers.
