Genesis-Edge Said to Be Only Dual Fuel Meeting 2010 Levels

Clean Air Power, a pioneer with more than two decades of dual fuel engine experience, reports U.S. EPA certification of its Genesis-Edge offering. The certification applies to Volvo D13 and Mack MP8 engines. updated February 24

“Genesis-Edge is the only commercially available system certified to the stringent U.S. 2010 levels,” the company says. The specific model year for the certification is 2012, says U.S. business development director Kevin Campbell. “They are found in 2011, 2012 and 2013 model trucks,” he told F&F.

CAP’s dual fuel technology replaces up to 85% of diesel with low cost natural gas. Savings can exceed 15¢ per mile and total more than $18,000 per year.

CAP says further that there are more than 2,700 vehicles on five continents employing its dual fuel technology, and that more than a billion miles have been logged.

$77 Million Invested

Now headquartered in Britain, Clean Air Power was initially founded in the U.S. in 1991, since which time some £50 million – some $77 million U.S. at current rates – has been invested.  The firm says that 69 patents are currently held or pending.

In addition to its dual fuel kits, CAP designs and manufactures hydraulic valves, injectors and filters for natural gas engines.
