Fast-Fill CNG Fueling at Existing Sapp Sites in Colorado and Iowa
Sapp Bros. and Stirk Compressed Natural Gas disclosed plans today for two CNG fueling stations. Both are to be located at existing Sapp travel center locations and both will emphasize fast-fill CNG dispensers with an emphasis on Class 8 trucks.
One of the new stations will be located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and the other in Commerce City immediately northeast of Denver. The Commerce City station is being built as a 4CNG outlet with the support of the Colorado Energy Office (F&F, October 31). It is slated to open late spring, 2015.
Council Bluffs construction is scheduled to begin in March, and the CNG station is slated to open in early summer. Black Hills Energy will provide natural gas.
Sapp has 16 full-service travel centers located primarily on the I-80 and I- 70 corridors from as far west as Salt Lake City to Clearfield, Pa. in the east.
