CEC Has $1.5 Million for NGV Fueling

Latest Solicitation Is Aimed at School Districts and Public Entities

The California Energy Commission has $1.5 million to support natural gas vehicle fueling projects by public entities, with an emphasis on school districts.

The California Energy Commission would like to see more CNG for school buses, like the ones operated by LAUSD, the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Program Opportunity Notice/PON -14-608 is part of ARFVTP, the state’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program – under which approximately $100 million per year is invested in alternative fuel vehicles and associated infrastructure and outreach.

CEC will host a pre-application workshop on PON -14-608 in Sacramento on April 1. Applications will be due June 11.

California public K-12 school districts may be awarded as much as $500,000 per project. They are not required to provide match funding.

Other public entities must ante at least 25% of total allowable project costs as a match share. Their anticipated maximum award is $250,000.

Awards are expected to be made in July for projects to commence in September.
