New Flyer CNG Buses for Las Vegas: 305?

At Least 55, with 250 Options, New Flyer Reports on Friday

New Flyer Industries reports a contract with RTC, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, for as many as 305 heavy-duty 40-foot and 60-foot Xcelsior buses, all to be fueled by compressed natural gas.

New Flyer is to supply at least 20 and perhaps as many as 120 CNG-fueled articulated Xcelsior buses to Las Vegas RTC, as well as at least 35 and perhaps as many as 185 forty-footers.

The contract includes a firm order for 35 forty-foot XN40 buses with options for 150 more, and 20 firm 60-foot XN60 buses with an option for another 100 over the next 5 years.

Since 1991, New Flyer says, it has delivered 332 buses to RTC, whose current transit fleet consists of approximately 650 buses.
