Two Partnerships Announced at ACT Expo 2015 in Dallas
NGV Motori, working through its Dallas-based NGV Motori Texas unit, disclosed partnerships with Westport and with Lion Bus at ACT Expo 2015 last week.
The first will enhance NGV Motori’s line of engines converted from diesel to 100% natural gas spark-ignition operations by giving the upfitter access to Westport electronics for engine control.
“This partnership enables NGV Motori to not only provide best-of-breed product but also support after sales service and parts using the existing network that Westport already has established in North American markets,” NGV Motori CEO said Sunny DeWakar said in a release.
“We’re going to do the mechanical part and Westport’s going to do the electronics part,” NGV Motori Texas CEO Fury Zaidi told F&F.
Type C Bus with CNG-Powered DT 466 Engine
The second agreement announced at ACT Expo is a strategic marketing alliance for NGV Motori’s 7.6-liter DT 466 engine, converted to 100% natural gas operation to power Type C school buses from Canada’s Lion Bus.
“Our CNG model is a production-ready reality, with orders being taken now for fourth-quarter 2015 deliveries,” said Lion Bus president Marc Bedard.
“Our customers have often requested an OEM CNG solution school bus to complement our well known CNG conversion packages,” Zaidi said in a release.
“By teaming with the unique qualities of Lion Bus, we believe we have found a partner who will carry the legacy of Motori’s 30-plus years of excellence worldwide effectively to the American school bus marketplace, serving an obvious need in the evolving field of clean energy student transportation.”
First Priority Bus Sales
Sales and distribution of the all-CNG Lion Bus are being handled by First Priority Bus Sales in New Jersey.
NGV Motori USA is a subsidiary of Italy’s based NGV Motori S.R.L. The parent has a presence in more than 20 countries, “working with many OEMs to supply CNG kits for dedicated and dual fuel conversions as well as complete CNG-powered engines.”
NGV Motori USA has a 50,000-square-foot engine modification and conversion facility in Texas and an R&D facility in New Jersey.
The next ACT Expo has been scheduled for May 2-5, 2016 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.
