No Deliveries Yet of Vehicle Announced in Fall 2013

General Motors is pledging first deliveries this summer of the CNG-gasoline bi-fuel Chevrolet Impala that was announced in autumn 2013.

Deliveries of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala bi-fuel sedan are  expected to commence this summer. The vehiocle was announced for summer 2014 deliveries in autumn 2013 (F&F, November 7, 2013).

“We identified a concern and are working with our partners on implementing a solution,” a GM spokesman told F&F. He said that the vehicle is on track for 2016 too, with the order book for the new model to open in the third quarter.

The bi-fuel Impala has a Type I fuel tank manufactured by Italy’s Faber and a Quantum-integrated compressed natural gas fuel system. An undisclosed supplier provides injectors and fuel rail and ECM engine control manmagement software, the spokesman says, with “‘on-engine’ content managed by GM.”

Final assembly is by Roush Performance in Michigan (F&F, November 7, 2013).
