Addition of 17 Vehicles Brings Colorado CNG Total to 82
Republic Services is trumpeting the addition of 17 compressed natural gas solid waste collection trucks its Denver-area fleet, replacing older diesels and bringing the total number of natural gas vehicles operated by Republic in Colorado to 82.
Republic operates a natural gas fueling station in Commerce City, just northeast of Denver proper.
“One-third of Republic’s fleet serving the greater Denver metropolitan area is now powered by the domestic fuel source,” Republic says. The company has 158 collection trucks statewide, with more than half powered by CNG.
Savings of 18 Million Diesel Gallons Per Year
“Everything we do is for our customers,” Denver area president Tim Oudman said in a release. “When we do what is best for our customers, we are by extension doing what is right in the communities we serve.”
Republic says it operates more than 2,200 CNG vehicles and has 38 natural gas fueling stations. The CNG fleet helps to save roughly 18 million gallons of diesel fuel annually. Republic has the eighth-largest vocational fleet in the country.
