Increases Capacity to 120 DGE While Reducing Weight

Stow, Ohio-based Trilogy Engineered Solutions is promoting new, 120-diesel gallon equivalent back-of-cab assemblies for compressed natural gas fuel cylinders. updated August 26

In addition to lower weight, Trilogy Engineered Solutions is promoting 20% lower cost of ownership for its new 120 DGE back-of-cab CNG cylinder assembly.

In addition to lower weight, Trilogy Engineered Solutions is promoting 20% lower cost of ownership for its new 120 DGE back-of-cab CNG cylinder assembly.

Along with increased fuel capacity (first-generation Trilogy BoC arrays held about 112 DGEs), Trilogy’s newest products weigh an average of 20% to 25% less, “while still maintaining their structural integrity and vocational style,” the company says.

The second-generation units include several patent-pending performance enhancements. Customers have reported superior fuel efficiency with Trilogy fuel systems, says CEO Gary Gibb.

Trilogy is using Type III Luxfer G-Stor Pro CNG cylinder for its new ‘Mini’ back-of-cab fuel system.

Trilogy earlier this year introduced a 57-DGE ‘Mini’ BoC array aimed at operators with range requirements of 300 miles or less (F&F, March 9).

‘Any Make, Any Model’

Trilogy started with fuel cylinder assemblies for CNG-powered Kenworth tractors in 2012, and early on established a relationship with Palmer Trucks for installations in Indianapolis.

Today, “We are any make, any model, and have multiple installation sites,” says Gibb.

“We have lowered the prices and we are very competitive,” he told F&F.

Weight Is Critical

“The biggest obstacle we noticed when meeting with potential customers was our weight,” says sales and engineering VP Art Holbert. “We designed our systems to be rugged and exceptionally durable, but for our second generation we had to find a balance.”

The company says that in addition to increased capacity and lower weight, the second generation units promise a 20% lower cost of ownership than first generation systems. “We are working hard to be both innovative and competitive,” Holbert says.

Luxfer Cylinders

The firm has enjoyed several follow-on and new customer orders this year. “Fleets recognize the Trilogy advantage,” the company says.

Trilogy ES fuel systems are installed by

  • Fontaine Modification in Charlotte, N.C.; Dublin, Va. and Laredo, Texas.;
  • Custom Vehicle Solutions in Denton, Texas;
  • MHC Road Ready in Chillicothe, Ohio; and
  • Palmer Trucks in Indianapolis.

Trilogy ES maintains its supply agreement with Luxfer for lightweight CNG cylinders (F&F, November 18, 2014).
