New 16-Inch-Diameter Vessels for Buses and Refuse Trucks
Hexagon Lincoln took the occasion of NGVAmerica’s 2015 North American Natural Gas Vehicle Conference & Expo in Denver last week to introduce a new compressed natural gas fuel cylinder for the refuse truck and transit bus markets.
The 16-inch-diameter cylinders “are the company’s highest gas capacity and lightest weight tanks for this market to date,” states a release.
And, “In the race to be the lightest tank on the market, our engineers have never sacrificed durability for weight,” Hexagon Lincoln CNG automotive products VP Chet Dawes says in the firm’s announcement.
‘70% Lighter than Steel’
“It’s what makes us the global leader in the industry,” he said. The new tanks are 70% lighter than steel and have a polymer liner that is corrosion free.
Hexagon Composites also marked its 52nd anniversary at the NGVAmerica meeting, “celebrating its long history as the world’s largest manufacturer of Type 4 pressure vessels.”
