CNG Cylinders for New NGV Model to Total Some $18 Million

Norway’s Hexagon Raufoss has been named as the supplier of lightweight Type IV compressed natural gas fuel cylinders for a new natural gas vehicle that’s enter the European market during the second half of 2016, parent Hexagon Composites reports.

Hexagon Composites is talking up $18 million worth of business from a new European customer for a CNG vehicle to debut in 2016. Three years ago the Norwegian company publicized a deal to supply CNG tanks for the Mercedes B200 Natural Gas sedan (pictured above; F&F, September 14, 2012).

Initial deliveries are planned for the end of the second quarter of 2016, “and the program is scheduled to run for up to seven years,” states a release.

‘Very Pleased’

The estimated overall delivery value is approximately $18 million U.S. or 150 million Norwegian kroner.

“This is a new customer to Hexagon Raufoss,” managing director Ragnar Holthe says in his company’s announcement. “We are very pleased to enter into a long-term agreement with them.”
