Green Bridge Technologies, the new compressed natural gas vehicle unit of propane autogas specialist Icom North America, is promoting its CNG vehicles at this coming week’s Energy Independence Summit in Washington, D.C.

Green Bridge is offering CNG upfits of, clockwise from upper left, the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, the 2015/2016 Buick Encore, the 2015/2016 Chevy Trax, and the 2015/2016 Chevy Cruze.

Green Bridge is offering CNG upfits of, clockwise from upper left, the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, the 2015/2016 Buick Encore, the 2015/2016 Chevy Trax, and the 2015/2016 Chevy Cruze.

From EIS, Green Bridge will kick off a 30-day road tour through Maryland, Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York City and Connecticut, then heading west through upstate New York and Pittsburgh before heading on to Ohio, Indiana (with a stop at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis), and Illinois – and back to the company’s base in New Hudson, Mich.

Green Bridge is commercializing GM vehicles converted to CNG operation using technology from Crazy Diamond Performance, also of Michigan (F&F, September 10, 2015). Initial offerings include the Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Trax, and the Buick Encore.

No One Else Offers These Models

“This tour is the first in a series we’re coordinating across the country to introduce our brand and vehicle line-up to our Clean Cities Coalition and natural gas company allies,” says Green Bridge CEO Albert Venezio says in a release.

“It also provides prospective fleet customers the chance to get behind the wheel.”

“Our sub-compact and compact sedans and SUVs fit a niche that no other NGV supplier currently fills,” he says, noting interest among government, gas company and taxi fleet operators.

Green Bridge is promoting

  • the 2015/2016 Chevrolet Trax compact SUV “with the fuel economy of a car and the versatility of a full size SUV” with 1.4-liter turbo-charged engine and 8.58 gasoline gallon equivalents that “easily translates into a range of 250-plus miles;”
  • the 2015/2016 Buick Encore, likewise with 1.4-liter turbo-charged engine and 8.58 GGEs of CNG capacity; and
  • the 2015 Chevy Cruze and 2015/2016 Chevy Sonic platforms with either 1.4-liter turbo-charged or 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine.

The CNG vehicles “are among the cleanest combustion vehicles in the world,” said Green Bridge chairman Ralph Perpetuini. GBT’s initial line-up of vehicles are EPA-certified to Tier 2 Bin 3 emissions levels.

CNG versions of other GM vehicles are in development and certification testing with Crazy Diamond.

Additional Green Bridge road tours are slated for the West Coast and the Southeast later this spring.

The Energy Independence Summit runs February 7-10 at the Liaison Hotel in Washington, D.C.
