Los Angeles-Area Station to Support Some 110 Refuse Trucks,
Trillium Pledges to Procure and Provide RNG for the Vehicles
Love’s Trillium CNG said this morning that it was picked to design, build and maintain a compressed natural gas fueling station for Athens Services in Pacoima, Calif., north of Los Angeles.
The new private station will provide CNG fuel for approximately 110 Athens Services refuse trucks.
Athens operates 229 CNG vehicles in various cities, states today’s Love’s Trillium release. “The partnership with Trillium CNG allows them to provide more service to Los Angeles residents,” it says. Construction at Pacoima is under way, and the station is to open this autumn.
“We understand companies in California emphasize alternative fueling solutions to meet state mandates of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2020,” Trillium CNG managing director Bill Cashmareck says in the announcement.
“We are honored to help Athens Services with its goal of converting more vehicles to CNG by providing top-notch equipment and services,” he said.
Trillium CNG will procure RNG/renewable natural gas for the station. “When combined with Cummins near-zero emissions CNG engines, the use of RNG significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions,” the company says.
Athens Claimed a Near-Zero First at ACT Expo
The first Autocar refuse truck with a Cummins Westport ISL G Near Zero engine was shown by Athens at this year’s ACT Expo 2017 (F&F, May 5). The next ACT Expo will also take place at Southern California’s Long Beach Convention Center: April 30-May 3, 2018.
Trillium previously partnered with Athens on CNG stations in Irwindale and La Puente. Trillium owns ten CNG stations in California, and operates an additional 31 stations. Parent Love’s Travel Stops, which has more than 430 stores in 41 states, has nine locations in California.
