“The agency will be purchasing eight new compressed natural gas buses with assistance from the Ohio Diesel Emissions Reduction Grant and the Ohio Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program, which are statewide programs to replace or refurbish aging diesel engines,” Clean Energy says.

PARTA, Ohio’s Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority, is adding eight CNG buses to be supported by a $2.8 million fueling installation, says Clean Energy Fuels.

PARTA is buying 35-foot Axess buses from Eldorado National, says GM Claudia Amrhein. The first two are currently in production, she told F&F.

The agency operates 15 fixed routes servicing Ohio’s Akron, Brimfield, Cleveland, Franklin Township, Garrettsville, Hiram, Kent, Ravenna, Ravenna Township, Rootstown, Stow, Streetsboro, Twinsburg, and Windham.

“Last year alone, PARTA provided approximately 1.5 million trips to seniors, individuals with disabilities, students, and workers across Portage County,” the agency says.
