The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority last week awarded a $199.1 million contract to ElDorado National – California for 295 forty-foot compressed natural gas-fueled transit buses. Also received from the agency is an NtP/notice to proceed.

ElDorado National – California’s manufacturing faciity, located on 17 acres in Riverside, Calif. ‘Local employment was a factor’ in LA Metro’s selection of the company to supply as many as 600 CNG transit buses.

Pre-production meetings to nail down final design and componentry of the vehicles are to commence next week.

A New Relationship

The LA Metro board approved ENC as the supplier of up to 600 CNG buses earlier this summer (F&F, June 27). The agency is a new customer for ENC, and ENC is s new supplier to the agency.
