Breaks Ground Today with Timmons in Oklahoma
That’s the First in State with J-W Power’s PowerFill

Sparq Natural Gas broke ground today on a new natural gas fueling outlet in Tulsa – “Oklahoma’s 121st and fastest public-fill CNG station,” Sparq says, and the first in the state to employ J-W Power’s new PowerFill technology.

The new Tulsa station will be Sparq’s fifth in Oklahoma and tenth across a multi-state network. It’s to open by year-end, providing a critical link along the I-44 “CNG Corridor,” Sparq says, linking St. Louis and Dallas.

“This station expands the region’s CNG infrastructure and provides better access to a cheaper, cleaner, domestic fuel, enabling more businesses and governments in eastern Oklahoma to add CNG vehicles to their fleets,” Sparq says.

Partners besides Sparq and J-W Power include host Timmons Oil and Dericks Leasing & Financial.

‘Connecting Opportunities’

Our site will provide a clean transportation option for heavy-duty trucks needing a convenient destination to serve their fast-filling, high-performance, needs – a key objective in the trucking business,” Timmons senior VP Todd Collier says in the Sparq release.

“This project is about connecting opportunities,” he said.

“This is our largest investment in CNG infrastructure in the company’s 33 years,” said Dericks Leasing principal Richard Dericks, Jr. “With a positive business climate and experienced partners, we believe we can deploy our targeted venture capital to meet the fueling needs of current and future CNG vehicles in an unparalleled manner.”

‘Increases Flow Rates Without Increasing Horsepower’

The J-W Power equipment includes two 150-horsepower compressors.

“The PowerFill technology increases flow rates without increasing horsepower, and significantly increases the use of on-site storage,” said J-W Power sales VP James Barr. J-W’s Powerfill was introduced last year (F&F, May 13, 2016).

“Sparq is committed to providing Oklahoma natural gas vehicle operators a regional network of high performing, attractive, and conveniently located CNG stations,” said Sparq CEO Norman Herrera.
