Coda Automotive is offering smaller battery packs to customers willing to lose a bit of range to save a bit of money, pricing 2012 cars with 31-kilowatt-hour packs affording 125 miles on a charge at $37,250 before incentives. The standard Coda sedan with 36-kwh pack providing 150-mile range is priced at $39,900.

Coda uses lithium-iron phosphate batteries from its affiliate Lishen in China.

Coda has named Marvin K. Brown (which also handles Fisker) as its dealer for the San Diego area and Del Grande in San Jose for Silicon Valley.
