Honda has commenced deliveries of its new Fit EV for evaluation by Google, Stanford University, and by Honda’s own U.S. home city of Torrance, Calif.

Honda has delivered a 2013 Fit EV to the city of Torrance as a part of the Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program.

The pure electric vehicle with a Toshiba lithium ion battery powering a 92-kilowatt coaxial electric motor has a posted single-charge range of 123 miles (city). It was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year (F&F, November 28).

Fit EV demonstration program participants are to provide Honda with real-world feedback on the new battery car. “Individually,” Honda says, “each participant will use the Fit EV to further initiatives such as research into human behavior and various usages like personal, fleet and car-sharing.”
