Volvo’s Diesel Plug-In Is Mostly for Fleets

Volvo sees company fleets accounting for 80% of sales as the 57,000-euro ($75,000) diesel-fueled V60 plug-in hybrid electric goes on sale in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Britain.

Volvo sees company fleets accounting for 80% of sales when the 57,000-euro ($75,000) diesel-fueled V60 plug-in hybrid electric goes on sale next year in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Britain. Approximately 1,000 units are planned for model year 2013, increasing to 4,000 to 6,000 cars for model year 2014.

The vehicle has lithium ion batteries from LG Chem.

Last week Norway’s Eltek disclosed an agreement to supply water-cooled onboard chargers to Volvo.

Like other Volvo diesels, the V60 can take up to 7% biodiesel under Europe’s EN590 standard.
