From Coast to Coast the e-Drive (and Alt Fuels) Trend is Clear
San Diego’s STOPSignsandMore.com and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation are promoting signs for electric vehicles – the California outfit offers durable, reflective and tactile signs for parking spaces, while MassDOT has unveiled new EV license plates.
“Although electric, hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles are relatively new, their use continues to climb,” says STOPSignsandMore. By 2015, the firm says, it is estimated that 10% of all cars in the U.S. will be hybrids. “Businesses can get ahead of this trend by offering incentives to environmentally conscious drivers by providing them with preferred parking spots.
“By displaying official Electric Vehicle Parking Signs, businesses can reward these conservation-minded drivers.”
Massachusetts officials are thinking safety, so have devised a unique license plate that will help emergency responders.
“Public safety officials are studying how to immobilize and power down electric and hybrid vehicles, how to approach an EV fire and also learning new extrication procedures,” MassDOT Secretary Richard Davey said in a release.
“They must be able to recognize the vehicle as an EV vehicle. The availability of this plate helps assure quick identification.”
